Terms of Service
Effective June 28, 2026
Using The Site
The Yapathon operates a community media, sports, and events website. By using this site, creating an account, registering for an event, volunteering, signing a waiver, or submitting content, you agree to these Terms.
If you use the site for a minor participant, you represent that you are the participant's parent or legal guardian, or that you are otherwise authorized to provide the participant's information and complete the applicable registration, consent, or waiver steps.
Accounts
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your login secure. You may not impersonate another person, submit false information, or use the site in a way that disrupts events, registrations, scoring, or administration.
The Yapathon may correct, restrict, suspend, or remove accounts, registrations, team placements, volunteer records, or site access when needed to protect event operations, safety, account integrity, legal rights, or the community.
Minors
Some events involve minors. Participants under 18 may be required to provide parent or legal guardian information, and certain agreements or waivers must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Children under 13 should not submit personal information without parent or legal guardian involvement.
A parent or legal guardian should create, review, or manage account and event information for children under 13. If minor information was submitted without proper parent or guardian involvement, contact The Yapathon so we can review the account or event record.
Events And Waivers
Event registration, volunteer signup, team placement, waitlists, scoring, and schedules may change for operational, safety, capacity, weather, venue, or staffing reasons. Participation or volunteering may require signing all required event waivers before access to event features is granted.
Event waivers are separate legal records. If a waiver changes, The Yapathon may require participants and volunteers to sign the latest version before continuing with the event.
Event Conduct And Safety
Participants, volunteers, spectators, and account holders must follow event rules, venue rules, safety instructions, staff directions, and applicable law. The Yapathon may remove a person from an event, team, volunteer role, or site feature when conduct creates a safety, fairness, harassment, abuse, eligibility, or operational concern.
Event information on the site is for coordination and communication. It does not replace direct instructions from event staff, venue staff, emergency personnel, or the applicable waiver and event rules.
Media And Content
The Yapathon creates and publishes photos, videos, interviews, scores, brackets, stories, and other event or episode content. Do not upload, submit, or send anything you do not have the right to share. The Yapathon may remove content or restrict accounts when needed to protect the community, event operations, or legal rights.
When you submit messages, ideas, profile information, team information, volunteer information, or other content through the site, you give The Yapathon permission to use that content to operate the site, administer events, and respond to requests. Content intended for publication, event media, or promotion may be used where appropriate and consistent with the applicable event waiver or media release.
Third-Party Services
The site uses third-party providers for hosting, authentication, email, analytics, forms, media embeds, social platforms, and future payment processing. Those providers may have their own terms and privacy policies. The Yapathon is not responsible for third-party websites or services that are outside our control.
Payments
Some future events or services may involve payment. Payment terms, refund rules, and deadlines may be shown during registration or checkout. If a third-party payment processor is used, its terms may also apply.
No Emergency Service
This website is not an emergency communication system. For emergencies, call 911 or contact venue staff or event personnel directly.
Disclaimers
The site is provided as-is. The Yapathon works to keep information accurate, but does not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free scoring, real-time updates, or that every event detail will remain unchanged.
Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, The Yapathon LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the site or participation in site features.
Changes To These Terms
The Yapathon may update these Terms as the website, events, features, or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows when this version became active. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
